Job Overview:
The Safety & security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Training Coordinator position at the IRC is designed for a dedicated humanitarian safety and security professional who is passionate about learning and capacity-building. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality safety and security training to humanitarian teams operating in high-risk environments. The coordinator will support the READI Academy, which is responsible for training thousands of IRC staff and partners each year. The READI Academy aims to prevent critical incidents and strengthen the protection of frontline aid workers through a comprehensive catalogue of specialized courses. The coordinator will be involved in training leadership, operational coordination, and field security expertise, directly contributing to staff safety and humanitarian access. The position requires a commitment to enhancing humanitarian response through effective training and learning methodologies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Safety & Security Training Coordinator will have a variety of responsibilities, including:
  • Training Operations & Logistics: Coordinating the annual READI training calendar, leading logistical planning for Training-of-Trainers (ToT) programs, managing schedules and documentation for READI instructors, maintaining training documentation, overseeing procurement of training equipment, and handling administrative tasks.
  • Monitoring, Data & Quality Assurance: Leading data collection and analysis for training events, ensuring accurate filing of training reports, overseeing quality assurance, monitoring adherence to IRC Security Minimum Standards, and managing training-related databases.
  • Instruction & Program Development: Delivering Training of Trainers (Level 3) for the READI program, supporting instructor-level training, leading standardization events, building capacity through hands-on coaching, integrating incident management into training, soliciting feedback for course improvement, and contributing to program development through innovative learning technologies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in safety and security training, with a minimum of two years’ experience delivering ToT training in high-risk contexts. They should have excellent skills in inclusive adult learning and development, with at least five years of professional security experience, including three years in non-profit or NGO work within international humanitarian programs. Previous experience with the IRC is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities. They must also have the ability to engage stakeholders and build productive relationships.

Educational Background:
An undergraduate university degree or higher, technical degree, or certification in a related field is preferred. Significant applicable lived experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education. Candidates should have a solid understanding of humanitarian principles and the ability to analyze local, regional, and international dynamics.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years’ experience in delivering Training of Trainers (ToT) in high-risk contexts, with a strong emphasis on developing and facilitating learning for diverse audiences. Candidates should have at least five years of professional security experience, with three years specifically in non-profit or NGO settings focused on international humanitarian programs. Previous experience in administrative or project coordination roles is also beneficial.

Languages:
Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal, are mandatory. Additionally, proficiency in at least one or more of the following languages is desirable: French, Spanish, or Arabic. This multilingual capability will enhance communication and training delivery in diverse contexts.

Additional Notes:
The position can be based remotely, ideally aligned with Amman, with a requirement for travel to IRC field locations up to 50% of the time. This includes short-notice deployments during emergencies or transitions. The role is central to training delivery and operational support, necessitating flexibility and readiness to respond to critical security gaps.
