Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will oversee the project titled 'Inclusive Support to Civil Society Organizations in the Gaza Strip with a Focus on Women.' This role involves the overall coordination, daily management, and quality assurance of the project, ensuring that its three pillars—Employment, Economic Empowerment, and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support—are implemented coherently. The coordinator will work closely with partner organizations, including PNGO and MA’AN, as well as community-level actors and UNDP teams. The position requires a strong focus on gender-transformative practices and compliance with protection standards, ensuring that the project aligns with UNDP operational frameworks. The coordinator will play a critical role in maintaining effective communication among stakeholders, managing field operations, and ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and donor requirements. This position is essential for the successful delivery of project outcomes and the enhancement of socio-economic resilience in marginalized Palestinian communities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: leading and coordinating the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities; ensuring effective collaboration among partner organizations and stakeholders; facilitating regular coordination meetings; tracking project timelines and adjusting as necessary; overseeing the assessment of civil society organizations' needs and capacities; coordinating the recruitment and supervision of staff; maintaining communication with CSOs to monitor performance and adherence to safety standards; supporting entrepreneurship and economic empowerment activities; monitoring the implementation of home-based businesses and women-led MSMEs; coordinating psychosocial support activities; overseeing PSEA Training of Trainers; ensuring compliance with protection principles; developing and implementing a monitoring plan; conducting field visits to verify results; preparing progress reports; monitoring risks; ensuring compliance with UNDP rules and donor requirements; and assisting in community outreach and engagement efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong project management skills, including planning, implementation, and monitoring capabilities. They should have experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders and managing complex projects. Knowledge of gender-transformative practices and protection standards is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Agility, accountability, adaptability, and integrity are key competencies required for this role. The candidate should also be committed to continuous learning and possess good judgment and decision-making abilities.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, project management, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the position.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in project management, particularly in the context of development projects focused on community engagement, gender equality, and socio-economic empowerment. Experience working with civil society organizations and knowledge of the Palestinian context will be considered an asset. Familiarity with UNDP policies and procedures is also advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment, requiring the volunteer to arrange their own housing and living essentials. The initial contract is for 6 months, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. The Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is set at ILS 8,441 per month, which is intended to cover housing, utilities, and living expenses. The position includes life, health, and permanent disability insurance, as well as health insurance for up to three dependents and an exit allowance for satisfactory service.
