Job Overview: The Associate Director for Global Health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security will play a pivotal role in enhancing global health security in priority countries, particularly within the Asia Pacific region. This position involves leading and directing technical focus areas across the Global Health Security project, which is funded by the U.S. Government. The Associate Director will ensure that the technical frameworks and approaches align with relevant guidelines and standards, while also engaging with specialized partners to enhance technical performance. The role requires close collaboration with various teams, including the Country Representative and the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Team, to ensure adherence to U.S. Government global health security priorities. The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering all technical aspects of the project, ensuring that all deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Director will be responsible for a wide range of duties including: providing leadership and management oversight for complex programs, ensuring strategic coherence and donor compliance; coordinating with the Operations Management Team for effective budget and risk management; creating a productive supervisory environment; strengthening the capacities of project staff through coaching and training; ensuring compliance with donor regulations; leading program growth initiatives and identifying new funding opportunities; developing strong professional relationships with stakeholders; serving as the GHS technical lead; ensuring high-quality technical deliverables; and representing the organization at global health security events. The role also involves supporting knowledge management and learning, ensuring that lessons learned are integrated into new program designs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of contract and project management, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to influence and motivate others. Strong leadership and critical thinking skills are essential, along with the ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods for obtaining solutions. A thorough understanding of global health security concepts and practices is required, as well as proven ability to meet budgets and performance requirements.
Educational Background: A Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Environment, Gender, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology, or Youth is required. A Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred, indicating a strong foundation in managing complex projects effectively.
Experience: The position typically requires a minimum of 12 years of relevant technical or project management experience, including at least 8 years in a leadership role. Experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is preferred, particularly with U.S. Government-funded contracts, which is strongly favored for this role. The candidate should be comfortable working in a typical office environment and be able to manage long hours of computer work.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Additional language skills in French, Spanish, or Russian are considered a bonus, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage in diverse environments and with various stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Bangkok, Thailand, and is open to Thai nationals. The role may require travel within Thailand and to regional countries as per the workplan.
