Job Overview:
The Health Public Specialist position is designed for an experienced professional who will oversee health and nutrition programs in a humanitarian context. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance on health indicators and standards to field teams.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on data collection and analysis methods.

Required Qualifications:
  • University degree in public health, nutrition, or social sciences.
  • A minimum of 10 to 12 years of relevant professional experience, or a postgraduate degree with 5 to 10 years of experience in public health and nutrition.
  • Proven experience in humanitarian and development contexts, particularly in Chad or the Sahel region.
  • In-depth knowledge of health indicators and public health standards in forced displacement situations.
  • Strong background in health statistics and health information systems (e.g., DHIS2, iRHIS).
  • Experience working with UN systems and NGOs in health assessments.
  • Ability to present complex analyses clearly and convincingly, using visual aids.
  • Familiarity with the UNHCR mandate regarding refugees and host populations.
  • Proficiency in various data collection and analysis methods used in surveys and operational research.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in public health, nutrition, or social sciences. A postgraduate degree is preferred, especially for those with fewer years of experience. The educational background should be complemented by relevant training in health systems and humanitarian response.

Experience:
The position requires extensive experience in public health and nutrition, with a focus on humanitarian settings. Candidates should have a proven track record of at least 10 to 12 years in relevant roles, or 5 to 10 years with a postgraduate degree. Experience in Chad or similar contexts is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of health systems in developing countries.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, with a good command of English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse settings.
