Job Overview:
The Communication and Reporting Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the UNDP's communication and advocacy activities in Cameroon. This position involves producing visual materials aimed at raising awareness, mobilizing communities, and disseminating key information about UNDP programs. The assistant will work under the supervision of the Project Coordinator and collaborate closely with the entire team based in Maroua and Yaoundé, as well as with colleagues from other projects. The role is particularly focused on enhancing the quality, coherence, and impact of communication content, which is essential for effective public engagement and advocacy. The assistant will be responsible for designing various communication materials, including posters, flyers, and social media visuals, ensuring that all outputs align with UNDP's branding guidelines and effectively convey the intended messages.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designing awareness and advocacy materials such as posters, flyers, and banners.
  • Producing optimized visuals for social media platforms, ensuring they are tailored for various channels.
  • Developing simple infographics to support key messages and enhance understanding.
  • Creating reusable templates for social media posts and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ensuring all materials comply with UNDP's branding guidelines and quality standards.
  • Submitting a final package containing all files, templates, and editable formats required for web and print publication.
  • Creating graphic illustrations as needed.
  • Preparing each poster in both French and English to cater to diverse audiences.
  • Guaranteeing high-quality standards and adherence to UNDP's image and publication guidelines throughout the design process.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Communication and Reporting Assistant position should possess a strong background in graphic design and communication. They should demonstrate proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and have a solid understanding of branding principles. Additionally, candidates should have experience in creating visual content for digital platforms and be familiar with social media best practices. Strong attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Candidates should also have excellent communication skills in both French and English, enabling them to effectively convey messages to diverse audiences.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in graphic design, communication, marketing, or a related field is preferred for the Communication and Reporting Assistant position. Candidates with relevant certifications in graphic design or digital communication will also be considered. A strong portfolio showcasing previous design work and communication projects is highly desirable.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 1-2 years of experience in graphic design or communication roles, preferably within a non-profit or international development context. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of producing high-quality visual content and effectively engaging with target audiences through various communication channels.

Languages:
Proficiency in both French and English is mandatory for this position, as the Communication and Reporting Assistant will be required to create materials in both languages. Knowledge of additional languages is considered a plus, as it may enhance the ability to reach a broader audience.
