Job Overview:
The Grant Manager will play a pivotal role within the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team, reporting directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director. This position is crucial for ensuring accountability to donors and will involve strategic development for the mission. The Grant Manager will be responsible for monitoring and identifying funding opportunities that align with SI's country and global strategies. This includes overseeing the compilation of high-quality proposals, reports, and contract modification requests for submission to donors and consortium partners. The role also entails monitoring compliance with donor procedures and providing capacity building for both new and existing staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures. The Grant Manager will proactively follow up on donor contractual obligations, ensuring that all relevant staff and departments are aware of and understand these obligations. Additionally, the position requires centralizing and preparing documentation for external audits and archiving audit reports. Given that this is the first position of its kind in the mission, the candidate is expected to establish the department and create a vision for grant and partnership management, fostering long-term partnerships with both international and local partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grant Manager's duties will include defining the aims and objectives of the grant and partnership department based on SI's operational ambitions in Ethiopia. The role will involve deciding on grant criteria and guidelines, which will encompass essential details such as terms and conditions, purpose, scope, reporting requirements, and grant eligibility. The Grant Manager will also be responsible for maintaining an overview of all grants, donor requirements, rules and regulations, and internal and external deadlines. Leading the development of donor applications and reports, ensuring compliance and quality control, and revising new funding proposals, budgets, and donor reports will also be key responsibilities. The position requires a proactive approach to building relationships with donors and partners, ensuring that all activities align with SI's mission and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree or equivalent field experience in Finance, Economy, Social Sciences, Political Science, Law, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is required, along with over 5 years of experience in a similar position. Technical skills in grant and partnership management, project management, and program management are essential, as well as proven experience in preparing reports for institutional donors such as ECHO, CDCS, GFFO, SIDA, and FCDO. Transversal skills such as people management and development, commitment to SI principles, behavioral flexibility, results and quality orientation, and teamwork and cooperation are also necessary.

Educational Background:
A degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Economy, Social Sciences, Political Science, Law, or a related area is required. Equivalent field experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. This experience should include grant and partnership management, as well as project and program management.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this position. Knowledge of local languages, such as Amharic or Tigrigna, is considered a strong asset and will enhance the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the local context.

  • The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2100 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 400 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. The organization implements a system of alternation between work and time off, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package that covers healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions include shared guesthouse accommodations in Addis Ababa and project locations, with internet and telephone services available. While social life and restaurant options are limited in some project locations, basic food items are accessible in Addis Ababa.
