Job Overview: The Financial Analyst, FP&A position is situated within the External Relations (ER) department of the IRC, which encompasses private fundraising, marketing, communications, and advocacy. The primary goal of the ER department is to mobilize external audiences to secure funding that meets the core needs of the organization, thereby enabling the IRC to deliver programs that assist clients in recovering and regaining control over their lives. The FP&A Analyst will be responsible for assisting with monthly reporting, updating financial models, maintaining data accuracy across various systems, and generating insights that help teams understand fundraising performance, manage budgets, and identify risks and opportunities. This role is particularly suited for individuals early in their finance careers who possess strong analytical skills, are highly organized, and are eager to learn and grow within the organization. The position requires the ability to manage multiple tasks independently while collaborating effectively with non-financial colleagues to deliver high-quality analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Analyst, FP&A will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including supporting the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for assigned teams. The analyst will assist in maintaining revenue and expense financial models for the Enabling Team and High Value Fundraising portfolios. Additionally, the role involves ensuring data quality across relevant systems such as Salesforce, Integra, and Power BI datasets. The analyst will maintain clear and organized documentation of financial models, assumptions, analyses, and processes to ensure transparency and auditability. Close collaboration with Marketing and High Value Fundraising teams is essential to explain financial performance and assist them in understanding budgets and forecasts. The analyst will respond to routine financial ad-hoc queries and provide data to support operational decision-making. Furthermore, the analyst will support the Senior Analyst and FP&A leadership in preparing materials for leadership presentations and business case development. Developing a working knowledge of systems used by the FP&A team, supporting process improvements, generating insights on performance, tracking progress, and identifying risks and opportunities to meet targets are also key responsibilities. The analyst will produce high-quality deliverables with minimal rework required and present analysis and recommendations to the Director to facilitate decision-making and alignment. Promoting a positive, collaborative, and inclusive working environment is also a critical aspect of the role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. Strong analytical skills are essential, with the ability to interpret data and produce clear analyses. The candidate should be capable of explaining financial information in an accessible manner to non-financial colleagues. Strong organizational and time-management skills are necessary, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are also important, enabling the candidate to break down complex problems and work through solutions with team support. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including formulas and pivot tables) and PowerPoint is required.
