Job Overview:
The Coordination Assistant position at UN Women involves supporting the humanitarian team in their Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) work, particularly focusing on the Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM). The role requires close collaboration with the UN Women Head of Gaza Sub-office and the Humanitarian Analyst. The primary objective of this position is to facilitate effective coordination and implementation of AAP-related activities, ensuring that the voices of women and girls are integrated into humanitarian decision-making processes. The Coordination Assistant will be responsible for leading national-level AAP Working Group efforts, providing technical oversight, coordinating operational activities, and preparing analytical reports. This role is crucial in enhancing the accountability and responsiveness of humanitarian actions to the needs of affected populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Coordination Assistant include:
  • Supporting the AAP Team in effective coordination and implementation of activities.
  • Leading and coordinating national-level AAP Working Group efforts, including Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE).
  • Providing technical oversight and guidance to cluster focal points on AAP/CFM Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs).
  • Operationalizing the WASIL Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) by coordinating with partners and stakeholders.
  • Facilitating regular partner and stakeholder meetings to track implementation progress.
  • Advising program teams on partner deliverables, timelines, risks, and beneficiary-related issues.
  • Ensuring data quality assurance and analysis from community feedback.
  • Consolidating partners' periodic reports and required documentation.
  • Preparing analytical reporting products, including briefs and presentations. 1
  • Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Coordination Assistant position include a strong understanding of gender equality and women's empowerment issues, particularly in humanitarian contexts. Candidates should possess excellent coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Technical expertise in community engagement and feedback mechanisms is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate adaptability, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting is also required to effectively support the AAP initiatives.

Educational Background:
Candidates for the Coordination Assistant position should have a relevant educational background, typically a degree in social sciences, international relations, gender studies, or a related field. Advanced degrees may be preferred, particularly for candidates with extensive experience in humanitarian work or gender equality initiatives. Educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in the principles of gender equality and women's rights.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in humanitarian coordination, gender equality, or community engagement. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of successfully implementing programs related to accountability to affected populations and community feedback mechanisms. Familiarity with the Palestinian context and the challenges faced by women and girls in humanitarian settings will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, given the local context and the need to engage effectively with affected populations. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the communities served by UN Women in Palestine.

Additional Notes:
This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment, which means the selected candidate will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The initial contract duration is 9 months, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. The Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) provided is ILS 8,441 per month, intended to cover housing, utilities, and living expenses. Additionally, the position includes life, health, and permanent disability insurance, with health coverage extended to up to three dependents, as well as an exit allowance for satisfactory service.
