Job Overview: The Program Officer (PO) position is part of the STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Activity in Thailand. The PO will provide essential administrative assistance and support to the STRIDES project, which involves collecting, compiling, and analyzing information relevant to the implementation of activities in the country. This includes updating manuals, assisting with proposals, and processing complex paperwork. The PO will also support project management and execution through effective communication efforts. Responsibilities include monitoring project budgets, assisting in the creation and review of work plans, and coordinating with both the STRIDES Thailand and STRIDES US operational and technical teams. The role is crucial in ensuring that the STRIDES team in Thailand receives the necessary administrative, operational, technical, and financial support to achieve project goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: collaborating with the STRIDES Thailand project management team to meet project needs; providing logistical support for meetings and travel requests; collecting and maintaining project-related information; facilitating communication with partners; coordinating state-level project activities; managing project calendars; maintaining electronic and physical project files; and ensuring adherence to reporting deadlines. Additionally, the PO will assist with financial coordination, tracking performance against project timelines and budgets, and serving as a liaison to internal units such as finance and procurement. The role may also involve writing, reviewing, and translating reports as needed, and fulfilling other administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a basic understanding of project design concepts and implementation processes. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. The ability to problem-solve and recommend corrective actions is necessary, as well as strong organizational skills and attention to detail to meet project deadlines. The candidate must be articulate and professional, capable of clear communication with clients and staff.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Environment, Gender, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology, Youth, or a related field is required for this position.
Experience: Typically, a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience supporting projects or technical practice areas is required. Candidates should have prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Thai is mandatory for this position, with the ability to read, write, and speak in both languages. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Bangkok, Thailand, and is open to Thai nationals. The role may require travel of approximately 10% to 25%.
