Job Overview:
The National Project Manager/Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of the project titled 'UGANDA REDD-plus RBP for results period 2016-2017', which is funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This project aims to address the main drivers of deforestation and forest degradation in Uganda while promoting sustainable development in the land use and forestry sector. The coordinator will be responsible for organizing work plans, procurement plans, and budgets to ensure effective project implementation. This position requires regular stakeholder engagement and collaboration with various partners, including government agencies and implementing partners, to achieve the project's objectives. The role involves overseeing the daily management of the project team and ensuring compliance with FAO, GCF, and Ugandan government procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Project Manager/Coordinator include leading the daily management and coordination of the project team and activities, developing and updating project-related documents, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, coordinating inter-agency and inter-ministerial activities, organizing regular coordination with implementing partners, supporting the convening of the Project Board and Project Steering Committee, coordinating technical reporting to FAO and GCF, supervising technical personnel and implementing partners, liaising with FAO technical units, supporting strategic alignment with the FAO Country Programming Framework, representing the project in external engagements, and carrying out any other tasks as requested.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in forestry, natural resource management, or a related field. They should have a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in natural resources management, forest and/or land management, and REDD, including knowledge of the REDD process and experience in implementing emission reduction actions. A working knowledge of English at level C is required, and candidates must be nationals of Uganda.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in forestry, natural resource management, or a related field. Candidates should ensure that their qualifications are recognized by the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
Candidates should have at least ten years of relevant experience in natural resources management, forest and/or land management, and REDD. Experience in implementing emission reduction actions, including social forestry and sustainable supply chains, is essential. Experience working in multiple locations or areas, particularly in field positions, is desirable.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English at level C is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not specified as a requirement.
