Job Overview:
The Senior Protection Assistant plays a crucial role in monitoring and implementing protection standards and operational procedures in line with international guidelines. This position is responsible for providing functional protection support to both information management and program staff, ensuring that refugees and asylum seekers receive timely and effective assistance. The incumbent will be involved in designing comprehensive protection strategies and will liaise with local authorities and partners to address protection issues. A key aspect of this role is to ensure that refugees and asylum seekers are actively involved in decision-making processes that affect their lives, particularly in accessing their rights and identifying solutions to their challenges. The Senior Protection Assistant will also be expected to engage with communities, build effective relationships, and maintain a strong focus on the needs and rights of vulnerable populations, particularly children at risk.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Protection Assistant include consistently applying international and national laws, providing counseling on protection issues, conducting Best Interest Assessments (BIAs), and maintaining accurate child protection case information. The incumbent will work closely with case management teams to prioritize child protection cases, support Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS), and engage with children and families to gather relevant information. Responsibilities also include conducting home visits, participating in BIP panel discussions, and contributing to the development of country-level child protection and education plans. The Senior Protection Assistant will monitor adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assist in identifying durable solutions for refugees and asylum seekers, and contribute to initiatives aimed at strengthening national and local protection capacities. Additionally, the incumbent will draft reports, maintain case files, and engage in inter-agency coordination activities as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as International Law or Political Science. Essential qualifications include at least two years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or one year of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree. Key competencies required for this position include computer literacy, awareness of protection and solutions, knowledge of refugee protection principles, and strong communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively in a team and a commitment to continuous learning are also essential. Candidates should demonstrate accountability, organizational awareness, and a client-oriented approach.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Additional certifications or licenses in International Law or Political Science are advantageous.
