Job Overview: The Landscape Consultant position is crucial for the successful implementation of the Al Taleeleh intervention project, which aims to enhance public spaces in urban areas through community engagement and participatory design. The consultant will be responsible for developing a comprehensive design for a canopy structure at Al Hashemite Hall Park in Zarqa City, ensuring that it meets architectural standards and safety regulations. The role involves not only the design aspect but also overseeing the construction process to ensure compliance with the approved plans and quality standards. The consultant will work closely with the project team and local stakeholders to facilitate the handover of the completed structure to the Greater Zarqa Municipality, ensuring that all necessary documentation is provided for operational acceptance. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in landscape architecture and urban planning, as well as strong communication and project management skills to effectively engage with various stakeholders and ensure the project's success.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Landscape Consultant will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting site visits to assess existing conditions and identify constraints and opportunities for the canopy intervention; preparing detailed architectural designs, including drawings and specifications; developing structural designs using engineering software while ensuring compliance with safety standards; providing material specifications and samples for approval; preparing a method statement for the installation process; and offering technical supervision during the construction phase to ensure adherence to the approved designs. The consultant will also be expected to engage with local communities and stakeholders throughout the project to ensure that the design reflects their needs and preferences, thereby fostering a sense of ownership and belonging within the community.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in public space development, landscape, and urban design is required, with proven experience in the local context. Proficiency in office software packages such as MS Word, Excel, CAD, and Adobe Suite is essential. Experience in organizing training, workshops, and events is desirable, as is a strong understanding of landscape principles and practices. Candidates should demonstrate strong research, analytical, and synthesis skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, or a related field. Candidates with a first-level university degree may be considered if they have additional qualifying experience. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of urban design and public space development, as well as for applying relevant methodologies and best practices in the field.
Experience: The position requires at least five years of relevant work experience in public space development, landscape, and urban design.
