Job Overview:

This position involves daily operations of the Security Communications System (SCS), where the SOC Assistant will be responsible for receiving, transmitting, and relaying security messages and information. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including operations, programme, and project staff, as well as service providers of security-related equipment. The SOC Assistant is expected to maintain accurate records, manage communications during security incidents, and ensure compliance with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position is vital for the effective functioning of the UN's security framework in Mongolia, contributing to the overall mission of the UNDP.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The SOC Assistant's duties include supporting the daily operations of the SCS, relaying security messages, escalating security incidents, maintaining communication logs, and ensuring confidentiality. The SOC Assistant will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of security guards, compiling reports, maintaining security equipment, and managing ID/pass handling for UN staff and visitors. Additionally, the SOC Assistant will support the Field Security Associate (FSA) in ensuring safety and security-related issues are addressed and will perform other tasks as assigned by the FSA. The role requires a proactive approach to security management, ensuring that all personnel are accounted for during incidents and that communication systems are functioning effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of secondary education, with a university degree in Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management, or a related field being advantageous. A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in security, preferably in military or police contexts, is required for those with secondary education, while candidates with a Bachelor's degree need at least 2 years of experience. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages is essential, along with experience in radio communications systems and knowledge of country security codes. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the UN's mission and values, as well as cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is secondary education. However, candidates with a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Political Science, Military Studies, or Security Management will be given preference. This educational background is important for understanding the complexities of security management and the operational environment in which the UN operates.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in security-related roles for those with secondary education, or at least 2 years of relevant experience for candidates with a Bachelor's degree. Languages:
