Job Overview: The Senior Practitioner role within the Youth Services Program in Kununurra is designed to strengthen community safety for young people by providing safe spaces and culturally responsive, trauma-informed support. The position involves working directly with young people, many of whom are engaged with the youth justice system, to help them build their strengths and achieve their goals through practical support, case management, and advocacy. This full-time, maximum term role extends through to December 31, 2027, and is part of a dedicated team focused on creating lasting change for children. The role requires a commitment to driving quality program planning and implementation, coaching and developing colleagues, and maintaining operational stakeholder relationships critical to the program's success. The Senior Practitioner will also coordinate staff caseloads and program logistics, ensuring effective monitoring, evaluation, risk management, and child protection practices are in place.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Practitioner will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to: driving quality program planning and implementation; coaching, training, and developing colleagues to enhance their skills and competencies for high-quality service delivery; developing and maintaining operational stakeholder relationships that are essential for the program's success; coordinating staff caseloads and program logistics; monitoring and evaluating program outcomes; managing risks and ensuring child protection measures are adhered to; maintaining a caseload of clients; engaging with young people and families; and leading the provision of quality service delivery. The role also involves exceptional practice skills to motivate and guide a high-performing team towards achieving collective goals and positive outcomes for both the program and clients.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Senior Practitioner position should possess a strong background in working with young people, particularly those involved with the youth justice system. They should have expertise in trauma-informed practice approaches, a solid understanding of the youth justice system, and knowledge of the challenges facing young people in the community.
