Job Overview: The position of UX/UI Designer Support is an online volunteer role aimed at enhancing the MoralityCode Mobile App, which is an innovative ethical decision-making tool. The app integrates moral philosophy, emotional intelligence, cultural anthropology, and a health-informed ethical model to guide users through complex moral dilemmas. The current phase of the project, Version 2, focuses on improving user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. Volunteers will work on distinct areas of enhancement, ensuring that the app is intuitive, empathetic, accessible, and visually engaging. The role requires volunteers to build upon existing designs and make them more effective for a global audience, contributing to the overall mission of the app to communicate complex moral and emotional concepts clearly.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities for the UX/UI Designer Support position are divided between two volunteers. Volunteer 1 will focus on User Experience (UX) and Navigation, which includes analyzing and refining app workflows for intuitive navigation, reviewing and improving wireframes and interactive prototypes, collaborating with AI and app developers, and testing user flows to propose improvements based on simulated user feedback. Volunteer 2 will focus on User Interface (UI) and Visual Design, enhancing visual elements such as color schemes, typography, iconography, and layout, creating empathy-first interfaces that effectively communicate ethical dilemmas, ensuring designs are accessible for a global audience, and refining high-fidelity mockups to maximize emotional engagement and visual clarity.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the UX/UI Designer Support position include a strong understanding of user experience design principles and methodologies, proficiency in design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, or Figma, and the ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups. Volunteers should have a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment. Experience in ethical design, accessibility standards, and cultural sensitivity in design is highly desirable.
Educational Background: A background in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field is preferred for the UX/UI Designer Support position. Candidates should have relevant coursework or certifications in UX/UI design, graphic design, or a related discipline that demonstrates their knowledge and skills in the field.
Experience: While specific years of experience are not mandated, candidates should have practical experience in UX/UI design, either through academic projects, internships, or previous volunteer work. A portfolio showcasing previous design work and projects is essential to demonstrate the candidate's capabilities and design thinking process.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all communication and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages is considered a plus, especially languages that reflect the diverse user base of the MoralityCode app, as this can enhance the inclusivity of the design process.
Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position, and as such, it does not offer financial compensation. However, volunteers will gain valuable experience working on a meaningful project that contributes to ethical decision-making and social impact. The role is fully remote, allowing volunteers to work from anywhere, and the commitment is flexible, accommodating the volunteers' schedules while ensuring that project deadlines are met.
