Job Overview: The position of Program Manager is critical in supporting the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) under the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in India. The role involves leading advocacy and communications efforts, developing strategic roadmaps, and ensuring the smooth transition of vaccine-preventable disease (VPD) surveillance functions from the World Health Organization’s network to IDSP. The Program Manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries, donors, and professional associations, to secure visibility and foster cross-sectoral collaboration. This position requires a self-driven individual with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to think critically and strategically. The Program Manager will also be responsible for monitoring programmatic activities, managing data collection processes, and supporting the development of innovative solutions to enhance public health systems.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Manager will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Developing strategic roadmaps and implementation guidelines to facilitate the transition process of VPD surveillance.
Providing strategic and analytical support to program work streams, identifying high-impact areas for intervention.
Leading the design and implementation of processes for data collection, management, and review to monitor progress against a developed monitoring and evaluation framework.
Coordinating and monitoring programmatic activities, engaging with multiple ministerial nodes and state health leadership.
Supporting the curation of financial management plans for optimized resource allocation.
Identifying potential risks and challenges in implementation and developing mitigation strategies.
Building and maintaining trust-based relationships with government stakeholders and development partners.
Developing compelling presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Synthesizing and documenting key learnings for dissemination to stakeholders. 1
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Postgraduate/master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in fast-paced environments. Experience in management or healthcare consulting, development sector consulting, or public health strategy roles is preferred. Exceptional analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative, along with strong written and verbal communication abilities, are essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to work independently in a multicultural environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required, as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or a Postgraduate/master’s degree in a relevant field, such as public health, healthcare management, or a related discipline. This educational background should be complemented by practical experience in relevant roles, particularly in fast-paced environments.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in management consulting, healthcare consulting, or public health strategy roles. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in dynamic environments and managing complex projects.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the local context in India would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and involves frequent travel within and outside the program geography in India.
