Job Overview:
The intern will be part of the Technology, Innovation, Connectivity, and Infrastructure Division (TICID) of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), specifically under the supervision of the Chief of Emerging and Frontier Technologies. The role involves supporting the technical team in delivering evidence-based research and preparing mandatory parliamentary documentation for significant conferences such as the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (COM) and the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD). The intern will engage in various activities, including conducting literature reviews, drafting reports, and assisting in the preparation of high-level forums. The position is designed to provide hands-on experience in policy research, technical support, and advocacy related to emerging technologies and digital transformation in Africa.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties will include assisting in the preparation of parliamentary documents and technical research, contributing to the development of reports for high-level forums, conducting situational analyses on topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Governance, and Cybersecurity, and creating digital content to promote the section's initiatives. Specific responsibilities include conducting advanced literature reviews, synthesizing data for background reports, preparing annual reports on WSIS+20 outcomes, developing technical presentations, and managing digital content on the section's website. The intern will also be involved in monitoring and updating digital platforms developed by the section, ensuring that all technical inputs are critically analyzed and integrated into the work.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must provide an official certificate confirming their eligibility at a later stage. Educational Background:

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for the internship. Knowledge of French is also required, as both are working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additionally, familiarity with other official UN languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's profile for the role.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
