Job Overview:
The position of Technical Expert in Nuclear Fusion and Plasma Science is pivotal in advancing the IAEA's initiatives in nuclear fusion and plasma science. The expert will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support in the implementation of various activities related to nuclear fusion and plasma technology. This includes finalizing publications, managing research projects, and disseminating information through the Fusion Portal. The role requires a deep understanding of nuclear fusion research and the ability to prepare technical reports and organize scientific events. The expert will work closely with Member States to enhance their capabilities in nuclear sciences and technologies, thereby contributing to the IAEA's mission of promoting peaceful nuclear applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Expert include:

• Finalizing the IAEA-TECDOC on Emerging Applications of Plasma Science and Technology for publication, ensuring that the document meets the required standards and is disseminated effectively.
• Providing technical expertise and input in the implementation of the Coordinated Research Project F13025, which focuses on the advancement of plasma science, technology, and applications.
• Managing the Fusion Portal, which involves creating and developing new content related to the IAEA's activities in fusion research and development, ensuring that the information is accessible and up-to-date.
• Preparing technical reports from various meetings, including Technical Meetings, Consultancy Meetings, and Workshops, in the field of nuclear fusion, plasma science, and technology.
• Organizing and implementing scientific and technical events on topics related to nuclear fusion and plasma science, facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration among experts in the field.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's) in Nuclear Physics, Plasma Physics, Nuclear Fusion, or related fields. Additionally, a minimum of two years of relevant experience in the nuclear field, particularly in nuclear fusion research, is required. Candidates should have experience in managing projects, preferably at an international level, and possess specific knowledge of the technical aspects of fusion research and the major ongoing national and international activities in this field. Familiarity with the IAEA's fusion activities is also essential. Experience in managing scientific events using Indico and developing SharePoint sites is considered an asset. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills are necessary for effective communication and collaboration.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy position offers a daily fee of up to a maximum of €240, which is determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. If duty travel is required as part of the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs will be provided.
