Job Overview:
The ICT Officer plays a crucial role in providing reliable and efficient information and communication technology (ICT) support to VSO staff and operations. This position is essential for ensuring that all ICT systems, equipment, and services are effectively maintained, secure, and aligned with VSO policies to support program delivery. The officer will be responsible for troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining hardware and software, and ensuring that all ICT resources are utilized effectively to enhance the productivity of VSO's operations. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements in ICT services, ensuring that VSO staff have the necessary tools and support to carry out their work efficiently. The ICT Officer will also be involved in training staff on the use of ICT resources and promoting best practices in technology use within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the ICT Officer include but are not limited to:
  • Providing technical support to VSO staff for all ICT-related issues, ensuring timely resolution of problems.
  • Maintaining and managing ICT systems, including hardware, software, and network infrastructure, to ensure optimal performance.

  • Assisting in the procurement of ICT equipment and software, ensuring that purchases align with VSO's policies and budget.

  • Training staff on the effective use of ICT tools and resources, promoting best practices in technology use.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure that ICT services meet the needs of various programs and initiatives.
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in ICT and recommending new technologies that could benefit VSO's operations.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the ICT Officer position should possess the following qualifications:
  • A strong understanding of information and communication technology principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in providing technical support and troubleshooting ICT issues.
  • Familiarity with network management, cybersecurity, and data protection measures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

The position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an ICT support role, preferably within a non-profit or development organization. Experience in managing ICT systems and providing training to staff is highly desirable. Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within VSO. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly local languages spoken in Sierra Leone, would be considered an asset and beneficial for effective communication with local stakeholders.
