Job Overview:
The Consultant for the Climate Change Section (CC) within the Air Transport Bureau (ATB) at ICAO will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of policies aimed at mitigating the impact of aviation on climate change. This position involves working on initiatives such as Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). The consultant will be responsible for maintaining the CORSIA Central Registry (CCR) and related databases, conducting quantitative studies, and providing guidance on CO2 emissions from aircraft. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Assembly, the Council, and technical committees, to ensure effective climate change strategies are developed and implemented.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will support the operation, development, maintenance, and update of the CORSIA Central Registry (CCR) and the CORSIA database. Key responsibilities include providing operational support in line with CORSIA SARPs, developing new functionalities for the CCR, conducting data analyses, and implementing cloud-based workflows. The consultant will also assist in creating data visualization aids, preparing documentation and reports, and developing training materials for CORSIA implementation. Additionally, the consultant will be involved in organizing seminars and workshops, responding to queries from external users, and ensuring the smooth operation of the CCR system.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in engineering, mathematics, science, statistics, or a related discipline. Essential qualifications include at least three years of experience in international civil aviation or environmental organizations, with a strong background in analytical work and tool development. Experience in data management services within the aviation or environmental sectors is also required. Desirable qualifications include familiarity with international environmental policies related to ICAO and knowledge of low-code applications and SQL environments.

Educational Background:
A first-level university degree is required, preferably in a relevant field such as engineering, mathematics, science, or statistics. This educational background is essential for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for conducting the necessary analyses and tool development.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience, with at least two years at the international level. This experience should include work in international civil aviation or environmental organizations, focusing on analytical tasks and data management. Familiarity with the aviation sector and environmental policies is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is mandatory. A working knowledge of a second language from the Organization's official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an asset and is desirable for effective communication within the organization.

Additional Notes:
The selected consultant will be employed on a medium-term consultancy contract for 11 months, with the possibility of renewal on a year-to-year basis, depending on operational needs and performance. This is a full-time position that requires in-person presence at the Montreal office for at least three days a week. Candidates must have legal authorization to work and live in Canada during the contract term. The monthly salary for this position ranges from CAD 5,097 to CAD 8,122, and employment income from UN agencies is tax-exempt in Canada.
