The UNDP Tunisia Country Office (CO) is dedicated to supporting Tunisia in achieving its national human and sustainable development objectives, aligning with the national Agenda 2030 and the commitments of the Paris Climate Agreement. Established to facilitate inclusive growth, climate action, and support for political processes, the office employs around 140 staff and has delivered approximately $11 million in programmatic support to Tunisia in 202
  • The Resident Representative leads the office's efforts in building strategic relationships with various stakeholders, including the government, donor countries, multilateral institutions, civil society, and the media, to advance the mission of UNDP in Tunisia.

Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer will work under the supervision of the National Focal Point for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Project Manager. The role involves providing support to the Climate Change Management Unit (UGPO-cc) at the Ministry of Environment. The volunteer will assist in the programmatic monitoring of the project, ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures. This includes administrative and financial management, data collection for project monitoring, and preparation of various project documents such as annual action plans and financial reports. The volunteer will also facilitate workshops and meetings, ensuring effective communication and coordination among stakeholders involved in climate action initiatives in Tunisia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will be responsible for a range of tasks including: assisting the project manager in programmatic monitoring and administrative management; establishing a monitoring system for project activities; preparing annual action plans and financial reports; organizing logistics for workshops and seminars; managing communications and documentation for the Climate Change Management Unit; supporting budget planning and financial management; and ensuring compliance with procurement processes. The volunteer will also engage in data collection and reporting on project activities, and assist in the preparation of communication materials and training programs related to climate change initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners. They should be adaptable to challenging environments and capable of working effectively within a multicultural team. A motivation for climate and environmental volunteering as a mechanism for sustainable development is essential. The role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background in environmental science, climate change, sustainable development, or a related field is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of climate change issues and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical context.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in project management, particularly in areas related to climate change or environmental sustainability. Experience working with international organizations or in a volunteer capacity is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNDP policies and procedures will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered an asset. Knowledge of Arabic is also beneficial, given the local context.

Additional Notes:
The position is a national UN Volunteer role, and the contract duration is subject to funding availability and operational needs. The volunteer will be responsible for their own accommodation and essential needs. Monthly living allowances will be provided to cover living expenses, and comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance will be included.
