Job Overview: The UN Volunteer will support the Programme’s technical area of Environment and Natural Resources, engaging in activities related to project implementation and environmental awareness initiatives that align with FAO's vision and mission. The volunteer will be integrated into the Environment and Natural Resources team, which is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring environmental projects and initiatives in Argentina. These initiatives are crucial for addressing agrifood systems that mitigate and adapt to climate change, enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services for food and agriculture, and promote sustainable practices such as the Blue Ports transformation and resilient agrifood systems. The volunteer will also contribute to emergency response efforts in food and agriculture and support the bioeconomy initiatives. Current projects include assisting the National Government in preparing the next National Report to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, strengthening Argentina's agribusiness sector, and promoting sustainable livestock practices in forest regions.
Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Environmental and Natural Resources Specialist, the UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the development of educational materials on disaster risk reduction, land degradation prevention, and the Blue Ports initiative, as well as preparing technical documents for workshops, training sessions, and special meetings.
Assisting in the preparation of content for clippings, news briefs, thematic notes, and short news pieces for FAO, UN, and national commemorative days related to environmental topics such as World Oceans Day and World Food Day.
Supporting the organization of events, workshops, and meetings for the area and assigned projects, including logistics, participant follow-up, and preparation of required documentation.
Contributing to tracking stakeholders involved in the area’s projects, disaggregated by type, gender, location, and other relevant criteria.
Assisting in the organization, systematization, and updating of the area’s shared folders and project-related work files within the office systems.

Experience: Candidates should have some level of experience in environmental projects, agrifood systems, or related fields. This could include internships, volunteer work, or professional roles that demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability and project management. Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies and civil society organizations, is highly valued.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Argentina. Knowledge of English is also beneficial, as it may be required for certain technical documents and international communications. Additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset.
