Job Overview:
The Operations Analyst position at MIGA is designed for a highly experienced and motivated individual with a strong background in project finance, public sector finance, and political risk insurance underwriting. The role involves working closely with Transaction Team Leads on underwriting guarantee transactions, supporting business origination, and transaction structuring activities. The Operations Analyst will gain extensive knowledge of MIGA's guarantee activities by engaging in transactions across various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and financial institutions. This position is critical in ensuring the successful execution of MIGA's guarantee business development and origination activities, contributing to the organization's mission of promoting foreign direct investment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Analyst will be responsible for working on multi-disciplinary transaction teams throughout the transaction lifecycle, which includes underwriting, approvals, and guarantee negotiation. Key duties include conducting independent research and analysis on investment projects, preparing complex financial models to assess financial viability, engaging with clients and conducting due diligence meetings, preparing guarantee pricing estimates, and contributing to high-quality proposal documents. The analyst will also support new business origination efforts, conduct industry research, prepare presentations, and collaborate with the portfolio team for analytical support in portfolio management activities. Additionally, the role involves conducting integrity searches on potential clients and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, International Business, or a related field, along with at least 2 years of relevant experience. This experience should include project finance work, analyzing and executing commercial or public sector investments, and financial analysis focused on complex transactions in emerging markets. Knowledge of emerging markets finance, economic development, and issues related to credit guarantees and investment insurance is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and effective interpersonal skills to interact with diverse clients and colleagues.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, International Business, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical foundation and analytical skills needed for the complex financial analysis and project evaluation tasks that the Operations Analyst will undertake.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in project finance, commercial or public sector investments, and financial analysis. Experience should ideally be gained in a reputable global financial institution, such as a multi-lateral development bank, consulting firm, or investment bank, focusing on complex transactions in the emerging markets, particularly in the infrastructure and energy sectors.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this role. Additionally, proficiency in French and/or Spanish is preferred, as it enhances communication with a broader range of clients and stakeholders in various regions.
