Job Posting Organization: The Association for the Protection of Women’s and Children’s Rights (APWCR) is a charitable organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights, particularly focusing on vulnerable populations such as women, children, and youths. Established with the mission to address human rights issues through research, education, advocacy, and developmental programs, APWCR operates primarily in the United States of America and Africa. The organization is committed to implementing community-based projects that aim to empower and protect individuals in conflict-affected regions, particularly in Cameroon. APWCR is actively seeking to expand its programming and secure new funding partners to enhance its impact and sustainability.
Job Overview: The role of the online volunteer is crucial for APWCR as it seeks to sustain its interventions and increase organizational resilience through effective grant research and proposal writing. The volunteer will be responsible for identifying relevant funding opportunities from various sources, including government bodies, UN agencies, foundations, and NGOs that align with APWCR’s mission. The volunteer will utilize project briefs and organizational data to draft at least four customized grant proposals and concept notes. Additionally, the volunteer will prepare supporting documents such as budgets, cover letters, and organizational profiles. This position requires close collaboration with APWCR’s Programs Officer, ensuring that the proposals are tailored to meet the specific requirements of potential funders. Communication will primarily take place via email and virtual meetings, allowing for flexibility and ongoing support throughout the proposal development process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough research to identify funding opportunities that align with APWCR’s mission and objectives.
Draft at least four customized grant proposals and concept notes based on project briefs and organizational data.
Prepare supporting documents, including budgets, cover letters, and organizational profiles, to accompany grant proposals.
Collaborate closely with APWCR’s Programs Officer to ensure proposals meet the necessary criteria and standards.
Participate in virtual meetings and communicate regularly via email to receive guidance and feedback on proposal drafts.
Maintain organized records of funding opportunities and submitted proposals for future reference.
Stay updated on trends and changes in grant funding landscapes relevant to APWCR’s work.
Required Qualifications:
Strong research skills with the ability to identify relevant funding opportunities.
Excellent writing skills, particularly in drafting grant proposals and concept notes.
Familiarity with budgeting and financial documentation related to grant proposals.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
A commitment to the mission and values of APWCR, particularly in relation to human rights and community empowerment.
Educational Background: A background in fields such as social sciences, international development, public policy, or a related area is preferred. Candidates with experience in grant writing or fundraising will be particularly advantageous. A degree or relevant coursework in these areas will be beneficial for understanding the context and requirements of grant proposals.
Experience: Previous experience in grant writing, fundraising, or related volunteer work is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully securing funding through grant proposals or similar initiatives. Experience working with non-profit organizations, particularly those focused on human rights or community development, will be an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all proposals and communications will be conducted in English. Knowledge of French is a plus, given the bilingual context of Cameroon, and would enhance communication with a broader range of stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position, and while it is not a paid role, it offers valuable experience in grant writing and proposal development within a reputable organization. The position is flexible and can be conducted remotely, allowing volunteers to work from their own locations. The duration of the volunteer engagement is not specified, but it is expected to last until the completion of the grant proposals.
