The intern will work closely with the Economic Affairs Officer and will be involved in conducting research that emphasizes the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly focusing on Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and their economic and social development challenges. This role is crucial for supporting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and involves engaging with various stakeholders to disseminate findings and recommendations. The intern will gain valuable experience in research methodologies, policy analysis, and the workings of international organizations, while also contributing to meaningful projects that aim to improve the lives of people in developing countries.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include: conducting in-depth research on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, focusing on Least Developed Countries and their unique challenges; analyzing country-specific experiences related to LDC graduation and macroeconomic and environmental policy issues; assisting in the organization of meetings and events related to the Development Policy Branch; communicating findings and disseminating research outputs to relevant stakeholders; collaborating with team members to develop policy recommendations based on research findings; and contributing to the overall objectives of the Economic Analysis and Policy Division by supporting capacity development projects in developing countries.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme, applicants should have a field of study that is closely related to the internship they are applying for. This ensures that interns have the necessary background to contribute effectively to the work of the division.
Educational Background: Candidates should be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. The educational background should ideally be in fields related to economics, social sciences, international relations, or other relevant disciplines that align with the work of the Economic Analysis and Policy Division.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position.
