Job Overview: The Senior Project Support Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the program development, donor engagement, communications, and knowledge management processes at IOM UK. This position requires collaboration with colleagues across the UK Mission and the wider organization. The individual will be responsible for implementing assigned project support tasks and projects, ensuring the timely and effective delivery of Project Support Unit (PSU) services. The role also involves supporting the implementation of systems and technological tools aimed at improving efficiency and collaboration, developing advanced user skills, and acting as a knowledge repository for colleagues. Additionally, the Senior Project Support Associate will coordinate training delivery, assist in organizational planning processes, and contribute to program development by sourcing and compiling technical inputs and analyses. The position also entails supporting teams in preparing funding proposals and ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Project Support Associate include leading the implementation of assigned project support tasks, coordinating the delivery of training, supporting organizational planning processes, contributing to program development, assisting in the preparation of funding proposals, conducting research on donors and funding mechanisms, liaising with regional and HQ counterparts, coordinating with program teams to gather data for policy notes, organizing meetings and events, and preparing correspondence and presentations as requested. The role also involves performing other related duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or Chief of Mission.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma with seven years of relevant professional experience or a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution with five years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. The position requires strong drafting and communication skills, practical knowledge of project support processes, and a good understanding of government funding mechanisms. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma with extensive professional experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as International Relations or Development Studies from an accredited academic institution. The educational qualifications must be from recognized universities listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to migration and development.
Experience: Candidates should have experience in providing administrative, coordination, or substantive support in areas such as internal relations, public affairs, and communications. Experience in supporting project implementation, multi-stakeholder processes, and organizing events is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience in drafting and editing institutional documents, supporting fundraising and program development, and familiarity with systems setup and change management. Prior experience working in migration, humanitarian, or development issues, as well as experience in UN or NGO environments, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, both oral and written. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. Candidates who possess additional language skills may have an advantage in the selection process, particularly if those languages are relevant to IOM's operations.
