Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The Association for the Protection of Women’s and Children’s Rights (APWCR) is an organization dedicated to charitable and educational purposes, focusing on the protection and promotion of human rights. Established to address the needs of vulnerable populations, APWCR operates primarily in the United States and Africa, with a significant emphasis on women, children, and youth. The organization is committed to implementing community-based projects that enhance education, protection, gender justice, and empowerment. APWCR aims to expand its programming and secure new funding partners to sustain its interventions and increase organizational resilience.

Job Overview:
The role of the online volunteer is crucial for APWCR as it seeks to enhance its funding capabilities through effective grant research and proposal writing. The volunteer will be tasked with identifying relevant funding opportunities from various sources, including government bodies, UN agencies, foundations, and NGOs that align with APWCR’s mission. The volunteer will utilize project briefs and organizational data to draft at least four customized grant proposals and concept notes, ensuring that all supporting documents such as budgets, cover letters, and organizational profiles are prepared meticulously. This position requires close collaboration with APWCR’s Programs Officer, who will provide guidance and feedback throughout the process. Communication will primarily take place via email and virtual meetings, allowing for flexibility and support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The online volunteer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Conduct thorough research to identify funding opportunities that align with APWCR’s mission and objectives.
  • Draft at least four customized grant proposals and concept notes based on project briefs and organizational data.
  • Prepare supporting documents, including budgets, cover letters, and organizational profiles, to accompany grant proposals.
  • Collaborate closely with the Programs Officer to ensure that proposals meet the required standards and align with organizational goals.
  • Participate in virtual meetings and communicate regularly via email to discuss progress and receive feedback.
  • Maintain organized records of research findings and proposal drafts for future reference and improvement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess strong research and writing skills, with a proven ability to draft compelling grant proposals. Familiarity with the funding landscape for non-profit organizations, particularly in the areas of human rights, education, and community development, is highly desirable. The volunteer should demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and effective communication skills. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to the mission of APWCR are essential.

Educational Background:
A background in fields such as social sciences, international development, human rights, or a related area is preferred. Candidates should ideally have experience in grant writing or proposal development, although this may not be strictly required if the candidate demonstrates strong writing and research capabilities.

Experience:
While specific years of experience may not be mandated, candidates should ideally have some prior experience in grant writing, research, or working with non-profit organizations. Experience in community development or human rights advocacy will be considered an asset, as it aligns closely with the mission of APWCR.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all communication and documentation will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the communities served by APWCR, would be considered a valuable asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and while it may not offer financial compensation, it provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience in grant writing and proposal development within a reputable organization. The role is flexible and can be performed remotely, allowing volunteers to contribute from their own locations. The duration of the volunteer engagement is not specified, but it is expected to last until the completion of the assigned tasks.
