Job Overview:
The Electrical Engineer position at UNRWA involves a range of responsibilities centered around the construction and maintenance of electrical systems within UNRWA facilities. The incumbent will report to the Field Electro-Mechanical Engineer and will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities at construction and maintenance sites, particularly those related to electrical works. This includes supervising site contractors and laborers, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and coordinating with various stakeholders such as local authorities and donors. The role also entails reviewing and recommending installation modalities for photovoltaic (PV) solar systems, preparing technical and financial reports, and ensuring that all project documentation is accurate and up-to-date. The Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in identifying project priorities in collaboration with community representatives and will be expected to manage unexpected technical difficulties that may arise during project execution. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer include:
  • Managing day-to-day activities at construction and maintenance sites related to electrical works, including supervising contractors and ensuring compliance with health and safety measures.
  • Reviewing and recommending installation modalities for PV solar systems, conducting local management verification, and finalizing cost estimates.
  • Coordinating with community representatives to identify electrical project priorities and preparing designs and tender documents.
  • Reviewing existing utilities and resolving technical difficulties in consultation with supervisors.
  • Checking electrical drawings and ensuring accuracy against actual site conditions, making necessary modifications.
  • Preparing technical and financial reports, including time schedules and cost estimates.
  • Monitoring project progress and maintaining accurate records of materials and inspections.
  • Evaluating contractors' work and verifying payment requests based on completed work.
  • Ensuring quality control of materials used in projects and maintaining records of deliveries. 1

  • Performing other duties as assigned across all UNRWA premises in the field.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Additionally, they should have at least four years of working experience in electrical works, with a minimum of two years in site supervision and technical administration. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders are essential. Candidates must also demonstrate knowledge of the latest developments in electrical materials and methods, as well as their implications for design and construction.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required for this position. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform the duties associated with electrical engineering in a construction and maintenance context.

Experience:
The position requires at least four years of relevant working experience in electrical works, with at least two years specifically in site supervision and technical administration. Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. Additional Notes:
The position is offered as a Limited Duration Contract (LDC) for a duration of 8 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The monthly salary for this position is USD 1,841, which includes a basic salary of USD 1,674 and a special allowance of USD 16
