Job Overview: The Project Lead Contractor will play a pivotal role in supporting Programme Officers with project management and event planning, specifically focusing on the UN Office for Partnerships' initiatives related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Fashion and Lifestyle Network Initiative. This position is integral to the successful communication and advocacy efforts of the UN Partnerships, ensuring that projects are effectively managed and that partnerships are fostered to promote sustainable practices. The contractor will work closely with the Chief of Operations and other team members to ensure that the objectives of the UN Partnerships are met, contributing to the overall mission of the United Nations in achieving global sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include planning and organizing events, meetings, and special projects convened by the UN Office for Partnerships. This involves identifying relevant speakers, preparing background notes and talking points, and producing reports. The contractor will support Programme Officers in the administration of projects aimed at promoting women's leadership and sustainable lifestyle practices. Additionally, the role requires conducting research and analysis for presentations, drafting correspondence for senior UN staff, and assisting in the implementation, monitoring, and assessment of projects, including conducting global surveys. The contractor will also prepare project concepts and support the development of relevant documents, reports, and budgets. Furthermore, the contractor will assist in launching and executing global campaigns and initiatives, develop communication materials for UN Partnerships leadership, and disseminate various communication products. Monitoring developments related to the SDGs and specific UN initiatives will also be part of the responsibilities, along with supporting the design and implementation of partnership-building tools. The contractor will communicate the progress of campaigns and initiatives through various platforms, including social media, and perform other duties as requested.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in political science, international relations, international economics, law, public administration, environmental studies, or a related field. A minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in programme/project management and partnership support is required, in combination with the Bachelor's degree. Experience in administering projects that promote sustainable practices in fashion and lifestyle is essential, as is experience in organizing high-level events and special projects focused on sustainable fashion and lifestyle. Additionally, experience in developing communication materials and reports related to sustainable development goals is desired.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as political science, international relations, international economics, law, public administration, environmental studies, or a related area. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of international partnerships and sustainable development initiatives.
Experience: The position requires at least one year of progressively responsible experience in programme/project management and partnership support. This experience should ideally include work related to sustainable practices in fashion and lifestyle, as well as organizing high-level events and special projects. Candidates with experience in developing communication materials and reports on sustainable development goals will be preferred, as this aligns closely with the responsibilities of the role.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is required for this position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's application.
