Job Overview:
The Front End Developer (React) will play a crucial role in the application development team, focusing on the design, testing, development, and deployment of eUNRWA solutions. This position requires a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and the ability to coordinate with various units within the Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID) to implement high-performance software solutions. The developer will be responsible for creating and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications, ensuring they are optimized for performance and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and integrating them with internal and external partner systems. The role also involves collaborating with UI/UX teams to create user-friendly interfaces and mentoring junior developers, making it a multifaceted position that combines technical skills with leadership and collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Front End Developer include but are not limited to: developing and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications using React Native; building reusable components and implementing state management solutions such as Redux or Context API; integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs and third-party services; ensuring application performance, security, and responsiveness across multiple devices; collaborating with UI/UX teams to deliver intuitive mobile interfaces; writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented front-end code; conducting code reviews and mentoring junior developers; troubleshooting, debugging, and enhancing existing mobile applications; preparing technical documentation and user guides; participating in agile ceremonies and providing regular progress updates; and creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting build and deployment pipelines.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include a university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer sciences, information technology, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in front-end or mobile development, specifically with React Native and JavaScript/TypeScript. Proven experience in integrating mobile apps with RESTful APIs and third-party services is essential, along with familiarity with secure authentication methods such as OAuth 2.
  • Candidates should also have experience integrating native device features like camera, GPS/location services, and push notifications, as well as a strong knowledge of mobile UI development and component-based architectures. Familiarity with mobile build tools and ecosystems such as Xcode and Android Studio is also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer sciences, information technology, or a related discipline. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for the technical aspects of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in front-end or mobile development, with a strong emphasis on React Native and JavaScript/TypeScript. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the candidate can effectively contribute to the development team and handle the complexities of mobile application development.

Languages:
Fluency in both Arabic and English is required for this position, as these are the working languages of UNRWA. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external partners.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is based in UNRWA HQA Amman, Jordan, and the selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration equivalent to A16 Step 1, amounting to JOD 1,190.43 for every fully completed month. The duration of the contract is up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds, continuing need, and satisfactory performance. The role operates under the overall supervision of the Product Lead – eUNRWA within the Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID). It is important to note that the United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, and they do not require information regarding applicants' bank accounts.
