Job Overview:
The Graphic Designer will play a crucial role in supporting the UN Country Team in Turkmenistan by providing high-quality graphic design services for a range of products. This position involves designing and laying out various reports, publications, and digital materials that communicate the UN's results and policy messages effectively. The consultant will work closely with the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) and other relevant staff to ensure that all materials adhere to UN branding and visibility guidelines. The role requires a strong understanding of graphic design principles, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines. The expected duration of the project is from February 20 to May 19, 2026, with potential extensions based on project needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Design and layout of UN reports and publications, ensuring both print-ready and digital-ready versions are produced.
  • Create country situation updates, fact sheets, one/two pagers, policy briefs, and concept notes.
  • Develop infographics, charts, maps, icons, and other data visualization products to enhance communication.
  • Structure and format complex, data-heavy content into clear and reader-friendly layouts.
  • Ensure compliance with UN branding and visibility guidelines across all products.
  • Maintain consistency across different products and language versions.
  • Review and advise on photo selection, image quality, and visual coherence.
  • Prepare print-ready files and web-optimized PDFs, including submission of editable/source files.
  • Collaborate with content and translations provided by the UN RCO and UN agencies to ensure accuracy and quality.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic production from start to published/printed product. Knowledge of printing processes (both offset and digital) and color management is essential. Applicants should have a strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including proficiency in design software such as Adobe Design Premium, In-Design, CorelDraw, Final Cut HD, and web design tools like Dreamweaver and Flash. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively, along with a client-oriented approach and sensitivity to multicultural environments. Previous experience with CCA products and UNCT annual reports is desirable.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should have a solid foundation in art and design principles, as well as practical experience in graphic design.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in graphic design, specifically in graphic production from initial concept to published product. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing projects effectively and delivering high-quality design work under tight deadlines.

Languages:
Fluency in Russian is mandatory for this position, while knowledge of English is considered desirable. This language proficiency is essential for effective communication within the UN and with various stakeholders.
