Job Overview:
The Director of Political Affairs will oversee the Northern Africa Division, managing its work and ensuring the implementation of its substantive work program. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in political and peacebuilding affairs, particularly in the context of North Africa. They should demonstrate the ability to conduct political analysis, oversee report preparation, and apply UN regulations effectively. The role requires a commitment to professionalism, accountability, and leadership, with a focus on gender balance and inclusivity in staffing.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in politics, international relations, law, social sciences, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in diplomacy, international affairs, political affairs, or peacebuilding. Experience in Northern Africa, particularly in peace and security matters, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have at least three years of experience working in Africa and managing diverse teams at a senior level. Experience in conflict or post-conflict settings is desirable.

Languages:
English is required for this position, along with either French or Arabic. The UN Secretariat recognizes English and French as its working languages, and proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the organization.
