Duties and Responsibilities: The Close Protection Officer will carry out a variety of duties, including but not limited to: conducting close protection operations for Senior UN Officials, remaining in close proximity to these officials at all times, implementing security measures to mitigate risks, maintaining effective security coverage for both office and residence, coordinating with relevant security organizations and local authorities, conducting advance work to establish security arrangements, contributing to pre-deployment briefings, operating close protection equipment, assisting in training sessions for team members, supervising drivers and local security assistants when necessary, and performing any other duties as required by the Close Protection Team Leader.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent technical or vocational certificate. Additionally, relevant training in the UNDSS Revised Close Protection Officers Course (RCPOC) or Close Protection Officers Course (CPOC) with valid certification is required. Completion of international, national, or commercial close protection training is desirable, and successful completion of the UNDSS Emergency Trauma Bag certification is also desirable. Equivalent paramedical or emergency medical training is considered an asset.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or an equivalent technical or vocational certificate. Candidates are expected to have completed specific training related to close protection, which is essential for the role.
Experience: Candidates must have at least six years of progressively responsible experience in close protection with a national, private, or international security organization. Additionally, at least one year of experience at the international level in a conflict or high-risk duty station is required. Knowledge of close protection operations in high-risk environments is essential, along with experience in static and mobile protection, close protection command post operations, and response techniques. Experience in conducting close protection training is also desirable.
