The Legal Intern position at the UN-House ESCWA is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in legal research and documentation within the context of international organizations. Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for conducting preliminary research on assigned legal topics, particularly those related to the building materials sector in Oman. This includes utilizing existing legal records and various reference sources to gather relevant information. The intern will also provide general project assistance by drafting, editing, and proofreading documents, presentations, and reports that contain legal components. Additionally, the intern will contribute to the development of reports, country profiles, and related analyses of the Arab Business Legislative Framework (ABLF). Responsibilities also include gathering and inputting legal data into a computerized database system, supporting the ongoing updates of the Arab Legislations Portal (ALP), and assisting in the organization and maintenance of electronic legal reference files for efficient information retrieval. The intern may also be assigned additional tasks as directed by the supervisor, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria. They should be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with a university degree as defined above. Additionally, applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, along with a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. The ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs is also essential, showcasing a willingness to understand and tolerate differing opinions and views. Interns must commit to at least two months of full-time work and complete their internship within six months.
