This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage with key stakeholders and support the implementation of initiatives that promote sustainable development in China. The intern will work under the supervision of the UN Partnership and Financing Officer, assisting in organizing major events, preparing briefing materials, and supporting high-level meetings. This role is crucial in facilitating collaboration between the UN and various partners to achieve shared goals in sustainable development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Partnership Intern will have a range of responsibilities, including:
Supporting the organization of major events for the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO), which includes logistical support and drafting briefing documents and speeches.
Compiling and preparing briefing and presentation materials, as well as background information on China's key policies and developments relevant to sustainable development.
Assisting in the organization and follow-up of inter-agency and high-level meetings or events attended by the Resident Coordinator or RCO staff members.
Providing logistical and substantive support to incoming high-level UN delegations.
Engaging with various stakeholders to foster partnerships that align with the UN's objectives in China.
Conducting research and analysis to support the development of public-private partnerships.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, and possess strong analytical skills and the ability to build relationships with clients.
Educational Background: Candidates must be in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), be currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. This educational background ensures that the intern has the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to the UN's initiatives in China.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the Partnership Intern position. This could include internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to sustainable development, public policy, or international relations.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is another working language. Additionally, knowledge of Chinese is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication and understanding of local contexts.
