Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the IT Specialist (Cloud Engineering) include designing and implementing multi-region, multi-cloud architectures with automated failover and disaster recovery capabilities. You will lead migration initiatives to transition existing cloud resources to more resilient and scalable architectures. Additionally, you will develop and enforce best practices for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery across Azure and AWS environments. Your role will involve automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, implementing cross-region replication and failover strategies for critical workloads and data, and monitoring and optimizing cloud systems for performance, availability, and cost-efficiency. You will also ensure security and compliance through IAM, encryption, network segmentation, and adherence to compliance standards. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, documentation of architecture designs and operational procedures, and evaluation of emerging technologies to enhance resilience and multi-cloud capabilities will also be part of your responsibilities.

You should have at least 6 years of work experience, including international experience working in several countries. Proven experience in designing and implementing multi-region, highly available architectures in Azure and AWS is essential, along with hands-on experience with cloud migration projects, including workload assessment, planning, and execution. A strong understanding of cloud services (compute, storage, networking) and resilience strategies (e.g., active-active, active-passive failover) is required. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, experience with disaster recovery planning and execution in multi-cloud environments, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams are also necessary qualifications.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related fields. A post-graduate degree or equivalent is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and knowledge in the relevant areas of study.
Experience: The position requires at least 6 years of work experience, with a strong emphasis on international experience across multiple countries. Candidates should have a proven track record in designing and implementing cloud architectures, particularly in Azure and AWS environments, as well as hands-on experience with cloud migration projects.

Additional Notes: This appointment is open to both internal and external applicants and is funded by a temporary funding source, meaning that the renewal of the appointment and its duration are subject to the availability of the funding source. The position is a fixed-term appointment with the option to renew, initially for a period of up to 2 years or until the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes first. After the initial fixed-term period, ADB may choose to renew the appointment for up to an additional 2 years based on various factors, including the requirement for the staff's particular blend of skills and experience, sufficient funding, and the staff's performance. There is no limit to the number of renewals up to NRD, but this appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. ADB offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including housing and education allowances, expatriate benefits, relocation assistance, paid leave, medical and health benefits, life and other insurance plans, staff development opportunities, and a retirement plan.
