Job Overview: The consultant role is centered around providing strategic development support for the Office of Innovation's engagement across various divisions, particularly in digital programming and the utilization of digital assets. The consultant will facilitate the development of two digital programming strategies, with an initial focus on health, and will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure effective strategy execution. Additionally, the consultant will guide senior management on strategic initiatives related to digital assets, enhancing their value for fundraising and partnerships, and ensuring operational readiness for their expanded use.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate the development of two digital programming strategies, prioritizing health and collaborating with stakeholders to define the second area.
Conduct thorough reviews of relevant documentation and research to inform strategy development.
Convene internal stakeholders and consult with external partners to gather insights and feedback.
Develop and execute UNICEF's strategy on digital assets, focusing on their fundraising potential and operational readiness.
Provide strategic guidance to senior management on the execution of initiatives and partner engagement related to digital programming and assets.
Ensure alignment with relevant GPD practice areas and collaborate closely with various divisions, including PFP and DFAM.
Required Qualifications:
A university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in Science, Technology, Social Science, Business, or a relevant field is mandatory.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in strategy development and advisory, particularly in innovation, technology, and digital sectors.
A demonstrated understanding of programmatic and technology areas relevant to UNICEF's mission.
A strong passion for leveraging technology and innovation for equitable social good.
Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills are essential for effective communication and strategy formulation.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Science, Technology, Social Science, or Business. Higher degrees are preferred and may enhance the candidate's profile for this consultancy role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in strategy development and advisory roles that focus on innovation, technology, and digital initiatives. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in complex environments and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in these areas.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's qualifications.

The consultant will work remotely but may need to travel for two stays of four nights each in Stockholm or another location as determined by the contracting manager. The consultant is responsible for arranging their own travel, including visa and travel insurance. Payment will be based on the submission of agreed deliverables, and UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment if deliverables do not meet the required standards.
