Job Overview: The STRIDES Thailand Associate Director, Technical is a pivotal role that leads and directs technical focus areas to enhance global health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security in Thailand and Southeast Asia. This position is responsible for aligning technical frameworks, approaches, tools, and activities with relevant guidelines and standards. The Associate Director will engage with specialized partners to ensure technical performance and will supervise both in-country and regional technical staff. They will collaborate with monitoring, evaluation, and learning personnel to ensure high-quality technical delivery that meets defined targets and timelines. The role requires accountability for the successful delivery of all technical aspects and reporting for STRIDES in the region, ensuring that all technical deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget while meeting or exceeding quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties of the STRIDES Thailand Associate Director, Technical include providing technical direction for the development of specific workplans and budgets that align with STRIDES objectives and USG priorities. The role ensures the timely submission and approval of high-quality technical deliverables, including workplans and reports. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with finance and operations colleagues to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and accurate reporting. They will serve as a key technical resource for clients and partners, assess subcontractor performance, and support the professional development of direct reports. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned, ensuring that all activities are executed effectively and efficiently.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of global health security project management and implementation. They should have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, and demonstrated project management skills. The ability to influence and motivate others, exercise judgment, and ensure that budgets and schedules are met is essential. Leadership skills and critical thinking capabilities are also required, along with a proven ability to navigate complex problems and deliver results.
Educational Background: A Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in Public Health, Global Health/Health Security, Epidemiology, One Health, Health Systems, Infectious Disease, Laboratory or Veterinary Public Health, or a related field is required. A Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred, indicating a strong foundation in managing projects effectively.
Experience: Typically, candidates should have a minimum of 10+ years of relevant technical or project management experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role. Proven knowledge and experience in strengthening global health security systems are crucial. Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) and implementing USG-funded contracts is strongly preferred, highlighting the importance of familiarity with the sector and funding mechanisms.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may be considered advantageous, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is open to Thai Nationals and may involve some domestic and regional travel (up to 15%). The job is based in a typical office environment, requiring the ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
