Job Overview:
The External Relations Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the Centre's mission by designing, operationalizing, and implementing various external relations activities. This includes communications and advocacy work, partnership development, and organizing domestic and international meetings. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Centre’s External Relations Specialist and is expected to contribute creatively to the Centre's initiatives while building professional capacities and networks. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that the Centre's external relations strategies align with UN Women’s corporate priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical and operational coordination for the planning and implementation of external relations strategies of the Centre, including designing annual workplans and ensuring coherence across the programme portfolio.
  • Coordinate the production of high-quality communications products in both Korean and English, manage communication platforms, and engage with media to enhance the Centre's visibility.
  • Develop partnerships with private sector entities, focusing on the Women’s Empowerment Principles, and coordinate related outreach and capacity-building activities.
  • Organize national, regional, and international meetings and advocacy events, ensuring effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Prepare partnership-related documents and coordinate follow-up actions from meetings.
  • Contribute to monitoring and reporting on external relations results, compiling communications outputs, and documenting lessons learned.
  • Provide flexible support to all aspects of external relations work within a small team environment, demonstrating proactive problem-solving skills.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in social sciences, communications, development studies, or related fields.
  • A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • At least one year of relevant professional experience in journalism, communications, or media, with a strong understanding of gender equality issues.
  • Experience in advocacy activities related to gender equality and women’s economic empowerment is advantageous.
  • Prior experience working with UN agencies is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in social sciences, communications, development studies, or related fields. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant professional experience in journalism, communications, or media, as well as experience in gender equality advocacy. Familiarity with the Korean media landscape and prior experience working with UN agencies are highly desirable.

Languages:
Proficiency in both Korean and English is required for this position, as the role involves producing communications materials in both languages and engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Seoul, South Korea, and offers an international working environment. The Centre’s working language is English, but Korean language skills are essential for this role due to the nature of the work involved. The job may involve supervising interns or UN Volunteers and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and independent task management.
