The External Relations Intern position at UNHCR Korea is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in the field of international relations and humanitarian assistance. The intern will work under the supervision of the External Relations Team, contributing to various tasks that support the organization's mission. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the External Relations Intern include:
  • Providing accurate and high-quality translations of key documents, including press releases and reports.
  • Assisting in the compilation of reports for both internal and external audiences, ensuring clarity and coherence.
  • Supporting the organization of internal and external events, including logistics and coordination.
  • Drafting engaging social media postings to promote UNHCR's activities and initiatives.
  • Conducting research on relevant topics to support the team's objectives and initiatives.
  • Managing and coordinating visibility items to enhance the organization's presence.
  • Supporting administrative tasks as needed to ensure smooth office operations.
  • Performing any other duties as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the External Relations Intern position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the International Cooperation Development field is preferred, with any relevant experience in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Korea International Cooperation Agency, International Organizations, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), or the humanitarian sector being advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel is essential, with training in these applications being a plus.
  • Experience in communication and design skills is recommended, particularly in drafting and documentation.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective collaboration within a diverse team.
  • Skills in social media publishing, monitoring, and designing are desirable, along with translation capabilities.

Educational Background:
Candidates applying for the External Relations Intern position should have a relevant educational background, preferably in international relations, development studies, communications, or a related field. Additional Notes:
This internship is a full-time role with working hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will be assigned to support the UNHCR Korea team. This internship is sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and applicants must hold Korean citizenship and be between the ages of 19 and 3
  • The maximum age limit for those who have served in the military will be extended based on their service duration. The intern will receive a stipend of KRW 2,200,000 directly from KOICA, and any difference between this amount and the UNHCR internship allowance may be covered by UNHCR. Previous participants of the KOICA Young Professional Program are not eligible for this internship.
