Job Overview:
The Project Director position at FHI 360 is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the implementation of two significant projects: STRIDES and EpiC. The STRIDES project aims to enhance global health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security by strengthening laboratory and surveillance systems to effectively respond to infectious diseases. The EpiC project, funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), focuses on maintaining epidemic control and expanding health initiatives in Colombia. The Project Director will be tasked with managing all aspects of these projects, including technical and operational responsibilities, budget management, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role requires a strategic approach to enhance health priorities in Colombia, particularly in areas such as maternal and child health and HIV activities. The Project Director will also serve as the primary liaison with various stakeholders, including government counterparts and implementing partners, ensuring effective collaboration and communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Director will be responsible for providing technical and managerial leadership for the EpiC and STRIDES projects in Colombia. Key responsibilities include planning, directing, and coordinating project implementation to meet established goals and objectives within specified timeframes and budgets. The Project Director will define and monitor work plans, budgets, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with organizational policies. They will directly manage technical, financial, and operational staff, providing guidance and training to achieve project goals. Additionally, the Project Director will create a safe and equitable work environment, manage relationships with government and multisectoral partners, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality reports and deliverables. They will also oversee the onboarding of new staff and support their professional development through feedback and coaching.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Project Director position must possess strong expertise in maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) and/or global health security (GHS) technical areas. A comprehensive understanding of project management principles, process development, and execution is essential. Familiarity with international health frameworks and initiatives, particularly those related to the Department of State, is highly preferred. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to develop annual work plans and oversee monitoring and evaluation activities, are required. Strong communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills are necessary for effective interaction with clients and staff. Prior experience in developing partnerships and managing relationships with government and implementing partners is also preferred.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in public health or a related health field is required for this position. A Master’s degree or its international equivalent is preferred, along with project management certification. These educational qualifications are essential to ensure that the Project Director has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively lead the projects and manage complex health initiatives.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of relevant experience, with a strong emphasis on global health security and maternal and child health project management principles. This includes a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing staff. Proficiency with applicable Department of State or other donor regulations is crucial. Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing health projects related to infectious diseases, as well as experience leading USG cooperative agreements or contracts. Experience in mentoring staff and building local team capacity is also important, along with a proven track record of managing complex, multidisciplinary projects.

Languages:
Professional proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is required for this position, along with fluency in Spanish. These language skills are essential for effective communication with stakeholders and team members in Colombia, ensuring that the Project Director can navigate both local and international contexts effectively.

This position is based in Bogota, Colombia, and is open to Colombian nationals. The role may involve travel requirements of 10-25%.
