Job Overview: The position of Asistente de Programas - Preparación y Respuesta a Emergencias focuses on supporting the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) programs of WFP in Venezuela. The role is crucial in strengthening national capacities and implementing community projects related to risk management and emergency responsecoordination. The selected candidate will work closely with local authorities, partners, and other key units within WFP to ensure effective humanitarian assistance reaches vulnerable populations. This position requires a proactive approach to managing information and providing technical support for EPR activities. The Asistente de Programas will be part of the Programs Unit and will play a vital role in data collection, analysis, and reporting to support decision-making processes. The position is open for Caracas and other locations where WFP operates, depending on program needs, which may include areas like Apure, Maracaibo, and Carúpano.
Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Asistente de Programas include providing technical support and assistance in implementing various EPR processes and activities in line with WFP's objectives and policies. The candidate will help strengthen the capacity of WFP staff, partners, and local authorities in the technical area of EPR. Key duties include collecting and systematizing data for situation reports and monitoring, managing and updating corporate systems and tools like COMET for information consolidation, coordinating with implementing partners and local authorities to obtain updated data, organizing meetings, workshops, and training for emergency teams, analyzing trends, and preparing situation reports (SitReps). The role also involves managing documentation and supporting the analysis and preparation of internal and external reports, presentations, and other informational products to facilitate operational decision-making. For positions based outside of Caracas, additional responsibilities include serving as a liaison for strengthening WFP's engagement in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and EPR with assisted communities, collecting information on key EPR-related phenomena in municipalities and parishes served by WFP, and supporting the execution of DRR and EPR activities through implementation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in international relations, business administration, communications, social sciences, or related fields. A minimum of three years of work experience in the private or public sector is required, with a preference for candidates who have experience in humanitarian and/or development activities, international institutions, and risk management. Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is essential, and experience with data visualization tools like Tableau is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
