Job Overview:
The Grants Manager will be a key member of the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team, reporting directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director. This role is pivotal in ensuring accountability to donors and involves a range of responsibilities including contributing to the mission's strategic development, monitoring and identifying funding opportunities that align with SI's country and global strategies, overseeing the compilation of high-quality proposals and reports, and ensuring compliance with donor procedures throughout the grant cycle. The Grants Manager will also be responsible for building the capacity of staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures, proactively following up on donor contractual obligations, and centralizing relevant documentation for external audits. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities related to the MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) process and supervision of the RCO (Regional Coordination Office). The position requires a high level of autonomy and a strong understanding of SI processes, especially in a context where many team members are newly recruited or externally sourced. The Grants Manager will face challenges such as navigating a complex donor environment and adapting fundraising strategies to the Latin American context.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the mission's strategic development and external positioning.
  • Monitor and identify funding opportunities in line with SI's country and global strategy.
  • Oversee the compilation of timely and high-quality proposals and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with donor procedures throughout the grant cycle.
  • Build capacity of staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures.
  • Proactively follow up on donor contractual obligations and ensure they are understood by relevant departments.
  • Centralize relevant documentation for external audits and manage audit report archiving.
  • Support the definition of program strategy and contribute to the development of external communication materials.
  • Coordinate and consolidate reports for ECHO/BHA projects. 1
  • Develop new proposals for AECID and Coca-Cola. 1
  • Engage with donors and partners to strengthen relationships. 1
  • Launch discussions on partnership strategy and manage partnerships with relevant organizations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree and/or post-graduate degree in project management, international development, social sciences, humanitarian studies, or a related field.
  • Equivalent professional experience in grants management within the humanitarian sector.
  • Strong proposal and report writing skills.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian donors and their requirements.
  • Training capacities and ability to build staff skills.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Proactive, autonomous, and solution-oriented mindset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a graduate or post-graduate degree in relevant fields such as project management, international development, social sciences, or humanitarian studies. Alternatively, equivalent professional experience in grants management within the humanitarian sector will be considered.

Experience:
The position requires 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0-2 years of experience in similar positions. This experience should encompass a strong understanding of grants management and donor relations within a humanitarian context.

Languages:
Mandatory languages include Spanish and English. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication and reporting.

  • The role is based in Caracas, Venezuela, and offers a competitive salary starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with accommodation costs and travel expenses covered by SI. The organization implements a system of alternating work and time off, allowing for breaks every three months, with additional rest days granted. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Caracas include shared guest house accommodation, internet access, and various leisure opportunities.
