Job Overview:

The role involves working closely with experienced professionals, receiving guidance and feedback to enhance logistics efficiency. The officer will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting information that maximizes the efficiency of logistics operations. This position is based in Caracas and reports directly to the Head of Supply Chain. The officer will contribute to the development of logistics plans and processes, ensuring compliance with WFP standards and policies. The role also includes supporting logistics projects and day-to-day operations, which are essential for the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries. The officer will engage in data collection and analysis, financial analysis, and budget reviews, providing insights and recommendations to optimize resource use. Additionally, the officer will support capacity building for WFP staff and partners, ensuring efficient food assistance delivery, and will be involved in emergency logistics preparedness to respond swiftly to crises.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Contributing to the development of logistics plans and processes in alignment with WFP standards.
  • Supporting logistics projects and daily operational activities to ensure effective food assistance delivery.
  • Collecting and analyzing data through research and networking to recommend actions for improving local logistics operations.
  • Conducting financial analysis and budget reviews, providing insights to optimize fund usage.
  • Guiding support staff and acting as a point of reference for queries and analysis.
  • Collating data and preparing accurate and timely reports to support informed decision-making across WFP logistics activities.
  • Supporting the capacity building of WFP staff and partners through training materials and sessions.
  • Building productive relationships with logistics colleagues to foster an integrated approach to food assistance.
  • Following emergency logistics preparedness practices to ensure rapid response capabilities in crises. 1
  • Acting in an assigned emergency response capacity as needed to meet food assistance requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be acceptable. Desired experiences include coordinating service providers’ contract execution, arranging supplier deliveries, evaluating offers, and report writing. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business Management. A first university degree may be acceptable if accompanied by additional relevant work experience or training. Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in logistics and supply chain management.
