Job Posting Organization:
The internship is located within the Headquarters Client Support Service (HQCSS), which is part of the Division of Administration within the Department of Operational Support (DOS) of the United Nations. The DOS was established to provide high-quality operational advisory and support services to various entities across the United Nations Secretariat. This includes departments at Headquarters, offices away from Headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions. The DOS plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective functioning of the Organization, and the HQCSS specifically focuses on administrative and human resources support. Job Overview:
The internship position is designed to provide interns with hands-on experience in human resources operations within the United Nations. Interns will work under the supervision of the Senior Human Resources Officer and Human Resources Officers, contributing to various ongoing workstreams while gaining valuable insights into the workings of the UN. The internship is structured to last a minimum of three months, with the possibility of extending up to six months, depending on the needs of the office. Interns are expected to work between 20 to 35 hours per week, either remotely or in person, and will be fully integrated into the team. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with a wide range of UN mandates and to support the administrative functions of various offices, including those focused on critical issues such as sexual violence in conflict and children's rights. Interns will be involved in routine administrative tasks, documentation review, correspondence drafting, and data management, all of which are essential for the smooth operation of the HR section.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall functioning of the HR section. These include assisting with routine administrative tasks, supporting the review of documentation for onboarding and extension requests, drafting responses to correspondence, providing information to hiring managers and candidates, organizing and archiving administrative records, compiling statistics, and preparing reports. Additionally, the intern will contribute to the evaluation and monitoring of human resources-related matters and maintain an inventory of documentation. The role may also involve performing other duties as assigned by supervisors, ensuring that the intern gains a comprehensive understanding of the HR operations within the UN.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). Applicants should be computer literate in standard software applications, particularly Excel, and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations. A personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter is essential, along with the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. While no prior working experience is required, educational background or exposure to human resources, public administration, or related fields is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed or be enrolled in a graduate program or the final year of an undergraduate program. A focus on human resources, public administration, or related fields is preferred. Enrollment in medical sciences studies is also considered desirable, as it aligns with the UN's commitment to health and well-being.

Experience:
No prior work experience is required for this internship. However, any relevant training, education, or coursework that can benefit the United Nations during the internship will be considered an asset. The internship is designed for individuals who are looking to gain practical experience in a professional setting, particularly within the context of international organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.

The internship is offered in both in-person and remote modalities, with full-time or part-time options available. The expected duration of the internship is between three to six months, with a desired start date in Spring 202
