Job Overview:
The Safe Online Data Analyst and Reports Writer will play a pivotal role in supporting UNICEF's Safe Online initiative, which focuses on preventing and responding to online child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA). This consultancy position is designed for an experienced data analyst and donor reporting professional who will be responsible for producing a comprehensive report on activities related to online CSEA. The successful candidate will be expected to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data, draft compelling reports, and communicate findings effectively to various audiences. The role requires a strong ability to synthesize large amounts of information into clear, engaging, and results-oriented language. The consultant will work closely with Safe Online grantees to review their annual reports and ensure that the data collected aligns with the Safe Online Results Framework. This position is remote, allowing for flexibility while contributing to a critical mission aimed at enhancing children's digital safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Analyst and Report Writer will have several key responsibilities, including:
  • Drafting a spreadsheet that consolidates quantitative and qualitative results from Safe Online grantee reports by April 30, 202
  • Finalizing a comprehensive data table that includes all relevant results from grantee reports by May 15, 202
  • Creating a draft of the public Safe Online 2025 Annual report, which will detail the results achieved by Safe Online and its grantees, due by May 31, 202
  • Finalizing the public Safe Online 2025 Annual report by July 15, 202
  • Drafting an extended version of the Safe Online 2025 Annual report that incorporates the Safe Online Results Framework, due by June 30, 202
  • Finalizing the extended Safe Online 2025 Annual report by July 15, 202
  • The consultant will also be expected to liaise with grantees for follow-up information, ensuring that all data is accurately represented and that the reports meet UNICEF's high standards for quality and clarity.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in donor reporting, data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, journalism, communications, or a related field. Strong expertise in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis is essential, along with a proven track record of producing donor or results-based reports. The ability to analyze, synthesize, and present complex information in a clear and engaging manner is crucial. Excellent writing and communication skills are required to effectively convey findings to diverse audiences, including donors. Experience in the international development sector, particularly with UN agencies, international NGOs, or foundations, is highly desirable. Knowledge of online CSEA, child protection, and digital safety will be considered strong assets. Candidates should demonstrate a solutions-driven mindset, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and the capacity to manage deadlines while incorporating feedback constructively.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, with a degree in social sciences, international development, journalism, business administration, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or related disciplines. This educational foundation will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively analyze data and produce high-quality reports that contribute to UNICEF's mission.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in relevant fields such as donor reporting, data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, or communications. Candidates should have a strong background in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis, as well as experience in drafting reports for diverse audiences. Familiarity with the international development sector, particularly in relation to child protection and online safety, will be a significant advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as the role involves drafting reports and communicating findings to various stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the regions where Safe Online operates.

  • The consultant will be required to submit a financial proposal that includes costs for each deliverable and the total lump-sum for the entire assignment. Any travel costs and daily subsistence allowances will be covered by UNICEF if international travel is required. The selected candidate must have current health insurance coverage at the time the contract is awarded. Payment for professional fees will be contingent upon the submission of satisfactory deliverables, and UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment if the deliverables do not meet the required standards. Additionally, the selected candidate will be subject to background checks and must confirm their fully-vaccinated status against COVID-19, although this requirement does not apply to those working remotely.
