Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to support the Global Framework on Chemicals Secretariat, which is part of UNEP. The Global Framework on Chemicals is a voluntary multistakeholder and multisectoral international framework aimed at assisting countries and stakeholders in developing and implementing solutions for the safe and sustainable management of chemicals and waste. The intern will work under the supervision of the Communications Officer for the Secretariat, contributing to the production of communications materials, graphic design, and layout. The role involves maintaining and implementing the communications plan for the Fund and the Secretariat, drafting various communication products, and supporting event coordination and outreach activities. The intern will also be responsible for creating visual content and multimedia products, as well as maintaining the organization's internal and external websites.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including: maintaining and supporting the implementation of the communications plan for the Fund and the Secretariat; laying out newsletters, reports, and other communications products; drafting articles, blogs, announcements, and supplementary materials; supporting event coordination and outreach activities; designing visual content for communication with external stakeholders; creating posters, banners, fliers, infographics, and other communications materials using Canva; researching content for printed and online material; supporting the creation of multimedia content and products; helping with the maintenance and value additions to internal and external websites; developing and maintaining a calendar of relevant international chemicals events; and building contact databases of donors and supporters to aid in resource mobilization.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Additionally, applicants must possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Teams. Familiarity with graphic design and communication-related software such as Canva and InDesign is highly desirable, along with the ability to draft news articles and social media posts.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes either enrollment in or completion of a graduate school programme or the final academic year of a first university degree programme. This means that candidates should have at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent, or be pursuing advanced studies in a relevant field. The internship is particularly suited for students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in communications, environmental policy, or related areas.

Experience:
While the internship does not require prior professional work experience, it is essential that candidates have a background in a field related to the internship. This could include studies in environmental science, communications, public relations, or any other relevant discipline. Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additionally, knowledge of French is also necessary, as it is another working language of the UN. Proficiency in another official UN language is considered an advantage, which could enhance the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.
