Job Overview:
The Evidence Reviewer - Regional and Ethnicity Specialist position is crucial for the IIMM's mission to investigate crimes committed against religious and ethnic groups in Myanmar. The role involves establishing and maintaining contacts with potential sources of information, ensuring that interactions are culturally sensitive to facilitate effective information collection. The specialist will analyze collected information and evidentiary materials, preparing clear and concise reports that document major findings. This position requires a deep understanding of regional and ethnic communities, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to gather and review evidence relevant to ongoing investigations. The specialist will also be responsible for maintaining organized files and ensuring that all work is completed accurately and efficiently to meet tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Evidence Reviewer - Regional and Ethnicity Specialist include: facilitating interactions between IIMM team members and relevant individuals or organizations; assisting in identifying potential sources of information and collecting evidentiary material; providing guidance to team members on culturally-sensitive approaches; reviewing evidentiary materials in the Myanmar language; preparing summaries or translations of relevant materials; working with IIMM databases to identify duplicates and interconnections; using specialized analysis software to record findings; consulting with other team members to ensure conformity with guidelines; maintaining organized files; and performing any other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an Advanced University degree in law, social sciences, languages, information management, or related fields. Alternatively, a first-level degree combined with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted. At least one year of relevant professional experience is required, with a preference for candidates who have experience interacting with Burmese witnesses and sources in judicial or journalistic contexts. Familiarity with monitoring and reviewing materials relevant to Myanmar is also desirable, as is experience in reviewing evidentiary materials in international tribunals or accountability mechanisms. Knowledge of specialized analysis software and databases is an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an Advanced University degree in relevant fields such as law, social sciences, languages, or information management. A first-level degree may be accepted if accompanied by two additional years of qualifying work experience. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of the role and the sensitive nature of the investigations conducted by the IIMM.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant professional experience. Candidates with experience in interacting with Burmese witnesses and sources, particularly in judicial or journalistic investigations, will be favored. Additionally, experience in monitoring and reviewing a wide range of materials related to Myanmar, as well as familiarity with evidentiary review in international judicial environments, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English and the Myanmar language (Burmese) is mandatory for this position, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of additional Myanmar languages such as Kachin, Chin, Tedim, Zo, Rakhine, Rohingya, and/or Shan languages is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.
