Job Overview:
The Mechanical Technician position at CERN offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about beam instrumentation for particle accelerators. The successful candidate will join the Beam Instrumentation group, contributing to the production of Beam Loss Monitors for CERN's injectors and the High Luminosity LHC. This role is set in a multicultural and diverse team, providing a stimulating environment that encourages skill development in various areas such as precision mechanics, assembly, vacuum testing, logistics, quality control, and problem-solving. The technician will be responsible for conducting acceptance tests of incoming subcomponents, assembling Beam Loss Monitors, performing vacuum tests, documenting production steps, managing logistics, and addressing any issues that arise during the production ramp-up.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Technician include: conducting acceptance tests on arriving subcomponents to ensure quality standards are met; assembling Beam Loss Monitors with precision and care; performing vacuum tests to verify the integrity of the assemblies; documenting all steps of the production process to maintain accurate records; managing logistics related to the production process; and proactively solving problems that may arise during the ramp-up of production. The technician will work closely with a larger team, requiring effective communication and collaboration skills to ensure successful project outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess up to 2 years of experience in at least two of the following fields: quality assurance, documentation, vacuum technician work, mechanical assembly and machining (either conventional or CNC), and logistics. Additionally, applicants should be able to read mechanical drawings and perform assembly work with a strong focus on product quality. Effective communication skills and the ability to work within a team are essential for this role. A valid driving license is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a general secondary education diploma. Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. It is important to note that applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree are not eligible for this position.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have up to 2 years of relevant professional experience in the fields mentioned in the qualifications. This experience should be gained after graduation and should demonstrate the candidate's ability to perform the duties outlined in the job description effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language at CERN. While not required, the ability to work in French would be considered an advantage. Candidates should also be committed to learning French to enhance their communication skills within the team.
