Job Overview: The consultant will be responsible for conducting a series of one-day community-based protection trainings and counter-trafficking trainings as part of two significant projects aimed at supporting war-affected individuals in Ukraine. The primary objective is to enhance the capacities of local institutions and organizations to implement community-based protection strategies and counter-trafficking measures effectively. The consultant will develop training materials, facilitate sessions, and assess the knowledge of participants before and after the trainings. The role requires a deep understanding of community dynamics, protection issues, and human trafficking, as well as the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders in various regions of Ukraine.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate 10 one-day community-based protection trainings in the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions, ensuring that all training objectives are met.
Develop and design comprehensive training content, including curriculum, handouts, presentations, and tasks for the counter-trafficking training.
Conduct 17 one-day trainings on countering human trafficking across various regions, including Kyiv, Odesa, and Lviv.
Organize and supervise pre- and post-training knowledge assessments to evaluate participant learning and engagement.
Prepare detailed trainer’s reports for each training session, including analysis of knowledge assessments and observations on group dynamics and challenges faced during the training.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the IOM, ensuring all tasks align with the organization’s objectives and standards.
Required Qualifications:
A university degree in Pedagogy, Psychology, Law, or a related field.
A minimum of five years of professional experience in countering human trafficking.
Proven experience in developing and conducting training sessions related to counter-trafficking.
Strong understanding of protection concepts and community-based protection frameworks.
Experience working with vulnerable populations and providing protection assistance.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in Ukrainian; knowledge of English is an asset.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong self-discipline and time management skills to meet deadlines.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as Pedagogy, Psychology, Law, or a closely related discipline. This educational background is essential to ensure a solid understanding of the principles and practices related to community protection and counter-trafficking.
Experience: The position requires at least five years of professional experience specifically in the area of countering trafficking in human beings. This experience should include a strong background in developing and facilitating training programs, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the issues surrounding human trafficking and protection mechanisms.
Languages: Fluency in Ukrainian is mandatory for this position, as all training and communication will be conducted in this language. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and enhance the consultant's ability to access additional resources and training materials.
Additional Notes: The consultancy will involve travel within Ukraine to various training locations. The contract duration is set for the period of April to July 2026, with specific deliverables tied to payment milestones. The consultant will receive compensation based on the successful completion of training sessions and the submission of required reports. IOM covers consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under its Compensation Plan, but does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational issues. Candidates must ensure they have their own medical insurance prior to commencing work.
